This morning we had amazing news. In January we received confirmation that we had been awarded the Inclusion Quality Mark. Today it was confirmed we are now a Centre of Excellence. This is a true testament to our passion and commitment to inclusion. I am truly proud of our team and the ongoing work they are doing to support everyone in our academy.

We had over 350 reponses to our student survey which will help us improve even further the blended learning we are offering. Already we have over 80% of students who think our lessons are good or outstanding which is a fantastic position to be in. Going forward we will be making sure we are giving lots of time with deadlines as we are aware some students are sharing devices. We will also be looking to see how we can incorporate the tasks into the time for the live lesson and ensuring students have time at the end of the live input to complete the tasks set.

Since our very recent release of myON (the online reading library) to our Key Stage 3 students (logging on with their accelerated reader accounts) they have already read over 100 books. Students can access the digital library on any device via: https://www.myon.co.uk/login/index.html. With over 5000 eBooks to listen to or read online there is plenty of choice to support reading and wellbeing. On our accelerated reader Google Classroom there are 2 videos to watch explaining everything. myOn also has built in features such as a dictionary per book and an audio option to support struggling readers. Our first competition is running - lets see who can read the most words in February. So far this year we have already 18 word millionaires with leaderboards running in English classes and tutor. Reading really is a key to success now and in the future, please encourage your child to read as much as possible.

Unfortunately parents evenings will have to change for this year and I thank you for your patience in allowing us to organise this differently. You will soon be receiving a letter with further information about our new virtual parents evenings. We have three sessions set up and each appointment will last for 5 minutes - there is a timer so it cannot over-run. Get comfy with a cuppa and learning more about how your child is doing at the following times:
23rd February - Y7 and Y8 with their form tutor
9th March - Y9 and Y10 with their subject teachers
23rd March - Y11 with their subject teachers

More snow is featuring in the changing weather forecast. Personally, I have had enough of it and look forward to Spring.
Take care and stay safe.
