Mission Christmas and Normanton Foodbank

This year Outwood Academy Freeston has had the honour of taking part in Mission Christmas and The Normanton Foodbank in order to help those less fortunate over the Christmas period. Mission Christmas is part of the charity ‘Cash for Kids’, a group of local charities established to channel the caring of the local community into the welfare of their own youngsters. To this end they asked our Academy to become a Mission Christmas drop off center where members of the public have been donating presents and gifts, all of which will go to disadvantaged children so that they have something to open this Christmas.

For a second year in a row Outwood Academy Freeston has also been helping our local community alongside the Normanton Foodbank in order to donate food and toiletries which go to people in need. Normanton Foodbank is part of The Trussell Trust’s network of 428 foodbanks, working to help solve food poverty and hunger all across the UK.

The response and generosity from our local community has been amazing, thanks to your donations of food, gifts and clothing to these charities you have made a big difference to the less fortunate members of our local community.
